Best Dental Care Routine

Working alongside the leading Culver City dentist, one of the most common problems we see with patients here at United Dental Care is a lack of basic oral hygiene.  Many people have been given wrong or outdated information on how to take care of their teeth while at home, but that is all soon to change.  Here is a look at the absolute basics of keeping teeth straight, white, and healthy at all times.

It all begins with basic brushing which should be done 2 to 3 times per day for 2 to 3 minutes each time.  Every single tooth should be targeted specifically on top, front, and in the back.  Care should also be taken to slowly massage the gums as well as to gently brush over the tongue a few times.

Flossing can be done once a day and care should be taken to not damage the gums.  Going from tooth to tooth, those that are flossing should drag the floss between the teeth to hit either side.  As long as no other medical conditions exist, bleeding gums are common and one should be less aggressive while flossing.  This is also a good time to use mouthwash to remove excess bacteria.

Without these basic habits, patients are going to be looking at tooth and gum issues throughout their life.  Improper oral hygiene habits could lead to discolored teeth, the need for a tooth extraction, or even root canal treatment.

When it is time to make that smile just a little brighter, call United Dental Care to see just what our cosmetic dentist in Culver City can do for you.
